Ever since the Church received its mission from Jesus Christ, its members have strived to be close to people from all walks of life, to reveal to them God’s love, solicitude and compassion. The Archdiocese of Montréal follows in those footsteps in many ways: through its teaching and accompaniment, through the transmission of its Christian inheritance to people of all ages, and through its invitation to celebrate together life’s great moments. As you well know, our Archdiocese is quite vast and offers many pastoral and administrative services to over 200 parishes. In order to adequately maintain our mission, everyone is invited to take a spiritual and material part in the missionary dynamism of our Church in Montreal. That is why all the parishes contribute, according to their own possibilities, to the diocesan financial effort, and the Diocesan Annual Collection adds to these individual efforts. In these economically uncertain times, I deeply rely on the solidarity of one and all, so that our Church may continue to accomplish its mission with efficiency, especially in the field of Faith Education that requires considerable funding since it is now entirely in the Church’s hands (formation sessions for catechists, program preparation, publication of all the documents and material, halls and rooms for meetings, etc.). Your generous and faithful contribution to the Diocesan Annual Collection allows us, year in and year out, to face many challenges.
